Inaugurated in 1992, the Pestana Vale da Pinta Golf Course in the Algarve, Portugal, is a Championship course with an exceptional layout. The course was designed by respected architect Ronald Fream, whose style involves the preservation of nature. The Vale da Pinta Golf Course has earned a deserved reputation for its outstanding level of maintenance as well as for its beauty and enjoyment.
The Vale da Pinta Golf Course has already been host to the Seniors Tour seven years in a row. Strategically positioned bunkers protect the greens, and two lakes influence play at four different holes. The dogleg trajectory for all the par 4 and 5 holes emphasis the need for skilful driving, and the greens and their size are always designed to match the length of the hole. The Vale da Pinta Golf Course appeals to practiced and experienced golfers, providing genuine excitement and a memorable round.
The rolling terrain of Vale da Pinta is dotted with carob, fig, almond and olive trees, some of which are more than 600 years old. A very special feature of the course is one olive tree that dates back more than 1200 years.
A large bunker protects the green at hole 16, a par 4, while the 541 metre long 13th hole can be exposed to strong winds.
