The Troia Golf Championship Course is located on the Troia Peninsula, less than 1 hour away from Lisbon. The Troia Golf Course lies on a long, flat and sandy stretch of land across the Sado Estuary, which seperates Setubal from the Atlantic Ocean.
In 2018, Troia Golf Course was rated as the 17th top golf course in Continental Europe.
Designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr., the Troia Golf Course offers challenges for every golfer. The prestigious architect's signature can be seen on the greens, which are small, narrow and always well protected, sometimes by huge bunkers.
The principal obstacle of Troia Golf Course is sand, which lines the whole course.
From the back tee, the Troia Golf Course opens with a drive over a sizeable lake, and the green is so closely bunkered that even big-hitters will have difficulty in getting home in two. Then comes, hole Nr. 2, a stunning par three with the green nestled on the edge of the beach.
Robert Trent Jones Sr. considers hole 3 of the Troia Golf Course, a par 4 that fits perfectly in the landscape with a magnificent sea view, as one of the best he ever designed. Hole 18 is a par 5 left dog-leg, with an elevated green and protected by three front bunkers.
