The Royal Óbidos Golf Course, near Lisbon, Portugal, was designed by golf legend Severiano Ballesteros and is characterised by its variety and idyllic natural surroundings.
Guests of the Hotel Marriott Praia D'El Rey and Praia D'El Rey Apartments benefit from reduced green fee rates and a free shuttle service.
The Royal Óbidos Golf Course, designed by Seve Ballesteros, is truly versatile. From the Championship tees it measures 6,765 metres, from the professional tees 6,692 metres and from the yellow tees 5.968 metres, meaning that it adapts perfectly to all handicaps.
Several holes have lakes and streams, which in addition to being important hazards add beauty to the course.
The first hole of the Royal Óbidos Golf Course is a difficult right-handed dogleg, heading north, setting up a spectacular combination of holes overlooking the lagoon of Óbidos. The highlight of the front nine is the 5th hole, an exciting 520 metre par 5, with a final approach into a large undulating green surrounded on three sides by water.
The second nine holes of the Royal Óbidos Golf Course lie in the central and southern section of the development. Six of the holes meander between an intricate ecosystem of lakes, interconnected by cascading streams. The highlight of the back nine is the 12th hole, a 420 metre par 4, where the golfer has to negotiate both the drive and the second shot between and over two lakes and a curving stream.
The clubhouse of the Royal Óbidos Golf Course overlooks no fewer than 9 of the 18 holes. Sitting out on the generous terrace, visitors will enjoy spectacular views of the golf course and to the Atlantic Ocean.
