Differences with the Faldo course

The O'Connor Amendoeira Golf Course is the second course at the Amendoeira Golf Resort, located in a fertile valley in the central Algarve. Designed by Christy O'Connor Jnr., the O'Connor course perfectly complements its sister course, the Faldo Amendoeira Golf Course.

While the Faldo course is more hilly and features more trees, the O'Connor course is characterised by its water hazards.

Surrounded by orange groves

The surrounding region has a reputation for orange production, and O'Connor wanted the course to reflect this. He designed the 5th hole to sit alongside orange trees, adding to the beauty of the game. There is also a huge orange grove next to the 4th hole.

Some challenges

Large areas of water, between holes 7 and 9, require accurate, strategic and creative play. Hole 10 leads play away from the northern boundary, setting up a challenge for the inward nine. O'Connor's 18th hole provides a fantastic end to the round, where golfers have to play slightly uphill and along a stream.
