Just 4km away from Portimão, Morgado Golf Course and its sister course Álamos are set in a large and tranquil estate that runs through undulating valleys in the countryside of the Algarve.
Morgado is one of the longest par 73 golf courses in the Algarve, characterised by its large greens and deep fairway bunkers which demand good putting skills.
Morgado Golf Course is home to five Par 5s, nine Par 4s and four Par 3s. Morgado has the typical characteristics of a traditional Links course, with flat fairways and Scottish-inspired bunkers, however, instead of being beside the sea, it is set in an area of parkland. Besides its length, Morgado Golf Course has an impressive average green size of 800m2 as well as some beautiful lakes.
According to the architects, "from a design viewpoint the Morgado Golf Course looks very tough, but it plays fair. There are no forced ‘carries’ onto any greens, which means there are no obstacles, like bunkers or water bodies, that are completely in front of a green; there is always more than one route to get on the green."
Wind also plays an important role in the challenge of the holes.
The Morgado Golf Course was one of the few Championship courses to be the host of the Portuguese Open for three years in a row, in 2017, 2018 and 2019.
Both the Morgado and Alamos golf courses offer excellent training facilities, with a large driving range and chipping and putting area at walking distance.
The clubhouse of Morgado Golf Course has spacious rooms, superb architecture and a perfect location, with wonderful views over the golf course.
