Situated in an area of 200 hectares, Montebelo Golf Course, a 1 hour drive from Porto, is surrounded by a unique landscape with exceptional views over Serra da Estrela and Serra do Caramulo. Montebelo Golf Course was designed by Mark Stilwell and Malcolm Kenyon to fit perfectly into the natural environment.
The Montebelo Golf Course winds through pine and oak trees, and is divided into 3 nine-hole loops that are named according to their main geographical landmarks: Caramulo, Estrela and Buçaco. The course offers many doglegs, as well as amazing views of valleys, rivers, mountains, lakes and well-protected greens.
The most memorable hole of Montebelo Golf Course is the 12th hole, a long downhill par 3 with a green that is protected by a bunker on the left and a lake on the right. This hole is known as the "soul of the course", not only because of its physical challenge but also becuase of its incredible surroundings.
The second hole, with its dogleg on the left, is also memorable for those who play at Montebelo Golf Course. At 482 metres it is the longest on the course, and offers a stunning backdrop of the Serra do Caramulo. Hole no. 10, a par 5, is the highest point of the Montebelo course. From the tee, players can admire a wonderful and endless view of the region.
