The Batalha Golf Course is situated on the north coast of São Miguel Island, one of Portugal's Azores Islands, just 10-min from the city centre of Ponta Delgada.
This amazing 27-hole course sits on ground steeped in history and is considered one of the longest courses in Portugal. Architect Bob Cameron created three 9-hole courses that can be played in any combination. Each 18 holes, always par 72, and the wide, generous fairways and excellent greens are outstanding.
The course is built on volcanic ground and is excellently integrated into the existing landscape of the Azores. Batalha Golf Course is a mixture of a links and woodland course, offering beautiful panoramic views of the Atlantic. Lucky golfers may even see whales, dolphins and porpoises frolicking in the sea alongside the golf course.
There is a very special sensation to be felt when standing on the soaring 15th tee (tee B 6) of Batalha Golf Course.
In the 19th century, a battle took place here between liberal and absolutist troops fighting for supremacy of the main island of São Miguel.
